The BCCI, which was supposed to host the 2021 T20 World Cup in India, is shocked. The prestigious tournament T20 World Cup, which should have been held in India from October 18, is reportedly moving to UAE. The ICC plans to host the T20 World Cup at UAE venue following a few experts warning that corona is yet to be reduced in India. However, BCCI has time to take a final decision to hold the T20 World Cup till 28th June, but in the meantime the ICC also seems to have informed the BCCI of its decision.
The 14th season will be completed on October 15 in the IPL UAE. The T20 World Cup will begin two days after the IPL. The ICC intends to hold the final on November 14. The full schedule for the same will be released this week. Qualifying matches to participate in the T20 World Cup will start from October 15 in UAE and Oman.
Overall, 8 teams will play 12 qualifying matches. Four of these teams qualify for the Super 12 and participate in the full-fledged T20 World Cup Tournament. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea will play qualifying matches. In addition, the teams in the top 8 rank are Super 12 and the Six teams play league matches in two groups.
The ICC has already informed the BCCI. The BCCI has also reportedly agreed to the ICC's decision in the prevailing situation. And it remains to be seen if right after IPL and the T20 World Cup will also be held at UAE and how favourable it would it be for India.
