The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is currently under progress, with spectators expected to be entertained for two months. The Delhi Capitals are one of the teams to watch this season after qualifying for the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. The IPL title, though, remains elusive for them. Nonetheless, DC skipper Rishabh Pant, according to left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed, will end the team's title drought this year.

Khaleel is returning to the Delhi-based franchise after four seasons with Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the blockbuster auction, the lanky pacer from Rajasthan fetched a whopping INR 5.25 crore. As Pant's teammate during the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, Khaleel is familiar with the southpaw's thinking and has formed a strong bond with him.

The 24-year-old went on to say that his friendship with the wicketkeeper-batter helped him execute his plans better. Khaleel is also optimistic that DC will win their first championship this season.

“I know Rishabh personally. He is my age and we played cricket together and started our careers almost at the same time. When you know your captain, you can plan things better with him. He is a talented captain and player. I am really excited about the reunion with Pant,” Khaleel quoted.

“I am confident Delhi Capitals will win their maiden title this time. Rishabh is a talented captain and has been doing really well for Delhi. I am sure Rishabh will lead Delhi to their maiden title win,” he added. Meanwhile, Khaleel's first assignment in a DC shirt was a success, as he bowled 2/27 in the team's opener against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians.

DC went on to win the match by four wickets, thanks to a batting display from Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav in the final few overs. Both DC and Khaleel want to have many more of these performances in the competition.
