Ajinkya Rahane captained India to a super victory. Batting first, India scored 474 in the first innings. Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan both scored centuries. Afghanistan were all out for 109 in 27.5 overs in the first innings. Mohammad Nabi top-scored with 24 runs.

In Indian bowling, Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets while Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. Afghanistan, who played a follow-on, were out again in the same manner.
