The Corona virus has become a curse for cricket in India. All mega cricket events, which were to be held on Indian grounds sand amongst Indian fans are going abroad. The IPL, which was postponed due to corona, has already gone to UAE. Now the T20 World Cup in India also seems to be shifting abroad.
The ICC is preparing plans for the T20 World Cup this year. A meeting will be held in Dubai on Monday for discussion, in which, BCCI Chief, Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah along with other board officials will attend the meeting.
The CORONA second wave has not subsided and the ICC must declare whether it will be possible to hold the T20 World Cup in India in the wake of reports that a third wave will also come in September. The ICC has scheduled the tournament in October and November this year.
The BCCI is thinking that things will turn for the better by that time. It is looking for ways to explain the same view at the meeting. The BCCI says that if the conditions in the country are favourable, the T20 World Cup should be played in India. If case India is unable to hold a tournament, the tournament also is certain to be held at UAE. A decision on this is would be taken at the ICC Board meeting. The IPL was held properly in the UAE last year, so the remaining IPL matches are being held there this year too. The T20 World Cup also seems to be shifting to Dubai. Much to the disappointment of Indian fans. But, keeping fingers crossed.
