There seems to be loads of excitement again in Indian cricket. India's selectors who recently picked the team for the England tour unfortunately didn’t select India's senior spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. However, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar were picked up as spinners.
Under this background, Chahal expressed his deep inner feelings saying Akshar Patel has come into the Test team. He in fact performed well. Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav are also playing in Tests. Therefore, it is difficult to get a chance when four spinners are performing well in the team.
But frankly, I have been performing consistently in First-Class cricket in the last three to four years. I took 50 wickets in 10 matches. Therefore, I am also waiting for a place in the Test team. Many spinners were injured ahead of the Test series against England in March this year.
I was expected to be selected in the team at that time. But unfortunately, there was no call. Now I don't even get a chance to tour England. Chahal said, "I don't understand why Indian selectors are behaving like this."
Meanwhile, the Indian team will go on England soil on June 2. There, the team will compete in the ICC World Test Championship final from June 18 to 23 against New Zealand at the Southhampton venue. Then it will face England in a five-Test series from August 4 to September 10. The selectors have already announced a 20-man team to this end.
