MS Dhoni was not selected in the T20 team for the upcoming series against South Africa, as has taken a two-month break from cricket. He's given the selectors time to build a strong team for the T20 World Cup next year and will only retire when he is confident enough that the Team India's future is in safe hands.
A senior member of the national selection committee was surprised at how fans were curious about Dhoni's future. And he mentioned that the wicket-keeper has approved Rishabh Pant to develop by opting out selflessly.
"There is no doubt of bypassing him. On the contrary, he has affored us enough time to go ahead and plan about the future and keep an eye on the World T20 next year. He realizes that the team comes before public opinion and because we still don't have the fittest candidate if Rishabh Pant gets injured in the shorter format, Dhoni has agreed to hold on. At present, there is no question of bypassing him," said a senior member of the team.
