Since the confirmation of its official Hindi remake, Jersey, the commercially successful Tollywood sports drama directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri and its makers has been busy getting the cast in place for the Hindi remake.
After Shahid Kapoor had been selected to play the lead character of the Hindi remake, Jersey’s director Gowtham Tinnanuri has said that he had Mrunal Thakur in mind to play the role of the female lead character. Gowtham loved Mrunal’s performance in Super 30 where she starred opposite Hrithik Roshan and he felt that she would fit perfectly for the role in Jersey and had the confidence that she would do an amazing job.
Jersey tells a story of the lead character (played by natural star Nani in the original movie) who goes through an emotional roller-coaster and defies all odds to play cricket for his country in his mid-30’s , being supported and anchored by the female lead character (played by Shraddha Srinath in the original movie).
The Super 30 and Batla House fame actress Mrunal Thakur expressed her entire excitement when she was asked about getting to star opposite Shahid Kapoor for the Jersey Hindi remake in a recent interview given to a leading newspaper. She said “I'm super excited to play the lead role opposite Shahid in Jersey. When I saw the original film I was bowled over by its passionate emotional journey. So deep was the impact of the film that I couldn’t get it out of my heart the whole night, and immediately watched it again the next day. It felt like I had lived a full life in two hours.”
The Hindi remake of Jersey is being directed by the highly talented Gowtham Tinnanuri who directed the original film in Telugu and it is being jointly produced by Dil Raju, Aman Gill and Allu Aravind.
