Acclaimed film director/writer Anurag Kashyap has deleted his official Twitter account in the wake of threats that he has been receiving for speaking his mind on the microblogging site. Anurag, who is staunch critic of the ruling government had written on Saturday that he wasn’t left with any other option as his parents and daughter were getting online threats.
His tweet at around 9.30pm read, “When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats you know that no one wants to talk. There isn’t going to be reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India & hope you all thrive,”
He tweeted for the second time, “This would be my last tweet as I leave Twitter. When I won’t be allowed to speak my mind without fear, I would rather not speak at all.”
He had, in the past, also shared a screenshot of a goon writing rape threat to his daughter. “Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter,” tweeted Kashyap.
Anurag has, meanwhile received mixed reactions from his colleagues and followers!
